Le goût de l'effort

The taste of effort. And I don't mean sweat.

Although I think we would translate that as the taste for effort. Do you have it? And I don't mean the kind of effort that is actually struggle and resistance poorly disguised as I'm-doing-my-best. I mean rising to the challenge effort. The kind that makes you enjoy the fact that sometimes it isn't easy to get what you want. Being required to make that effort, to give of your self, means you've finally discovered something that deserves the kind of effort you rarely use - the one that costs you something.

So here's my question - when was the last time you had to strive for something? When was the last time you found something that was absolutely worth the effort?

As cliche(sp) as it sounds. . .my 2 girls becasue for me, pregnancy is effort - the hospitalization and IVs from the continual vomiting, the constant mind blowing nausea - it really takes effort to want to do that and to go thru it, but what sweeet rewards I received from the effort.

Ask your niece how excited she was last night just to tie her shoe. It had been a week since she could.

Other than the effort I need to put into my marriage and relationships with his family and mine, I dont think I've had many such moments (cant remember anyway).

It's been a long time. I'd say my survival tops the list; that was four years ago. Now? I'm finally ready to make the effort to get my healthy body back.

My job...although now that I'm doing it, it doesn't feel like it took that much effort to get it...even though it did...because really, it took my whole adult life.

About two hours ago, getting a happy hug from the EVIL soon-to-be-three year old--because we made it to bedtime without me killing her or throwing myself out the window.

Beth - I remember that all day sickness - yours and mine!

Zeb - leave my favorite neice alone.

Christina - only at our expense

TID - that's plenty

Ali - so we do survive?

Lorraine - would you post about that?

Doc - I'm so glad you're around. Happy happy new year!

Beth - You too! Mom wasn't here - she's coming in the spring.
